Project Overview

As part of our 8th Annual ArtSplash Art Fair we included a children’s make-and-take art booth. Five different artists help the kids make pinwheels, Father’s Day cards, sheriff’s badges, feathered owls, and bookmarks.

Event Dates, Locations and Attendance at each individual event: June 16, 2012, North Mankato Taylor Library, 60 children / Outputs: Over 60 children participated in the Try Your Hand booth this year and all were successful in making an art project to take home with them.

Children will learn a new art method, successfully make an art project to take home, and have fun with art.

Measurable Outcome(s)

All participants were successful in completing their project to take home. Many of the children had never seen a pinwheel. This year’s booth (as well as the whole art fair) went exceptionally well with more kids than ever taking part. Over 60 children participated this year.

Traverse des Sioux Library System and North Mankato Taylor Library staff, City of North Mankato staff, North Mankato Civic & Commerce group, the ArtSplash planning committee, area artists.
Partner Organization(s) Contribution/Role in the Program:
North Mankato Library staff assisting in planning and executing the event, city staff was responsible for set-up of tents, tables, etc., Civic & Commerce paid for the live radio remote, the ArtSplash planning committee was in charge of locating artists and planning the day.
