Project Overview
Based on the popular TV show, teens competed in teams to produce tasty foods. This year our quickfire challenge theme was Cake Pops. Teens decorated cake pops in 15 minutes and were judged on presentation and their description of their cake pop. The winners received an edge for the final challenge. For the final challenge, teens were split into teams and drew knives to determine which side dish they had to make. The teams then selected a Southern Cooking main dish to pair with it. Culinary experts (Janessa, a local restaurateur and Marie Rete, a baking/cooking instructor) served as judges.
Project Details
One event at Watonwon County/St. James Library. Several of the teens had never participated in our Top Chef events in the past, several kids attended the program just to watch (they wanted to participate so badly that I had them take pictures of the event and clean up while the teens were cooking).
