Battle of the Books, Young Adult Book Trivia Competition

Traverse des Sioux Library System member libraries hosted the third annual Battle of the Books program on Saturday, August 6, 2011 for young adults. Battle of the Books is a trivia-style competition designed to encourage young adults to read and have fun simultaneously. Young adults read and studied a selection of four books and competed in a trivia competition to see which team can answer the most questions correctly. All of this was, of course, done outside of school, encouraging young adults to read all summer long for fun on their own. In the first round questions were asked to all of the teams. The top twelve teams moved into the second round and then the top three teams moved to the third and final round. The team with the most points at the end won by one point. With awarded grant funds, each participant received copies of the four books and Barnes & Noble gift cards valued at $10.00. The winning team members received a Nook E-Reader from Barnes & Noble.
