Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

It was expected that a majority of respondents would: learn something new about the Tracy tornado of June 13, 1968; learn something about Scott Thoma’s research process for this book; learn something about Scott Thoma’s publishing process for this book.

Measurable Outcome(s)

The vast majority of all respondents indicated they learned something about the Tracy tornado of June 13, 1968, as well as something about Thoma’s research process for his book. Less than half of respondents indicated they learned something about Thoma’s publishing process for this book; this can be attributed to the fact that so much time was spent on the personal stories included in the book that information about publishing was not included. Overwhelmingly, respondents at all programs enjoyed the program. Not only did staff observe attendees actively listening to the presentations, but the author commented about the high level of interest. He also indicated he was pleasantly surprised by the number of books he sold. Anecdotal responses from attendees included: “Scott personalized this event” “Interesting speaker!” “Very interesting, informative, and enjoyable.”
