Project Overview

Steve Glischinski, author of the newly released book Minnesota Railroads: A Photographic History, 1940-2012, conducted two multimedia presentations in New Ulm that focused on the history of railroads in Minnesota. He showed photos from the book, which was published by the University of Minnesota Press, and supplemented the photos with anecdotes and information. He followed the formal presentation with a Q&A session and he finished his visit by signing copies of his books.

It was expected that a majority of respondents would learn something new about railroads in Minnesota, express a greater appreciation for the history of railroads in Minnesota, indicate interest in learning more about Minnesota railroads.

Measurable Outcome(s)

80 people attended. The vast majority of respondents at both programs stated they learned something new about railroads in Minnesota; that the program helped them gain a greater appreciation for the history of railroads in Minnesota; and that they are interested in learning more about Minnesota railroads.
