Project Overview
Dick Kimmel, the Ambassador of Bluegrass, and Jerilyn Kjellberg presented “A History of Bluegrass Music,” which covers the history of traditional country music, how it developed into what we call bluegrass and old-time stringband music, and some of the musicians who were influential in this genre (Bill Monroe, Lester Flatt, Earl Scruggs, The Stanley Brothers, and more). Included in the workshop were demonstrations of the instruments used to play bluegrass as well as audio drawn from actual recordings. Kimmel and Kjellberg shared their experiences traveling the world playing bluegrass and played several original tunes.
