Project Overview
During National Library Week, we hosted Brian Richards at Muir Library. He shared his popular "Kids Who Read 'R' Cool Program" program with us. This program was entertaining, but it also motivated kids to get excited about books. The three themes reinforced in this program were: 1) Reading expands your imagination 2) The more you read, the more you know and 3) Kids who read are cool!

Participants will become more familiar with Brian Richards. Participants will learn about the ways that reading expands your information. Participants will feel more motivated to read books for fun.

Measurable Outcome(s)

45 people attended. This librarian noticed participants shouting out answers and calling out book titles when the presenter requested ideas. I also observed participants using their imaginations to think of new inventions with the presenter. I observed several families borrowing books and looking specifically for magic books after the program. The majority of the survey respondents said they wanted to read books for fun, enjoyed the program and hoped to have Brian Richards visit the library again.
