Project Overview
This project was a collaboration between the Arts and Heritage Center, TCU High School, TCU Community Ed and the Friends of the Montgomery Public Library. Mark Forgy, currently living in New Prague, is the author of The Forger's Apprentice. Mark spent his early twenties traveling throughout Europe, working as an assistant to Elmyr de Hory, now recognized as the most talented and successful art forger - ever. Upon Elmyr's death, as his sole heir, Mark inherited all of his artwork. Mark shared this artwork with the community in a display at our Arts and Heritage Center. Mark also shared his experiences at a series of community events. Mark met with both the Le Center and Montgomery Library book clubs. He also shared a BBC documentary about Elmyr at a Community Ed program at the Montgomery Library. He gave a community presentation at the Art Center, where the paintings were on display. he also met with TCU high school art classes and 7th and 8th grade English classes.
