Project Overview
Rick Shefchik, sports columnist for the St. Paul Pioneer Press and author of From Fields to Fairways: Classic Golf Clubs of Minnesota, talked about his book and give a PowerPoint presentation on 22 Minnesota golf clubs and the development of public golf in Minnesota, including how the game first came to Minneapolis and then spread to outer suburbs and larger cities as the private clubs filled up and developed waiting lists. He discussed golf course architects and some of the amateur champions. He concluded the program by signing books.
