Project Overview
Minnesota's children's author Rachael Hanel shared her 2012 publication Can You Survive Antarctica?: An Interactive History Adventure. Hanel shared a short reading from the adventure book and asked attendees to choose their "fateful path." To further bring the book to life, Hanel also asked attendees to pull items from a bag and decide if the supplies would help them on their adventure. By the end of the program, readers discovered firsthand if they had what it takes to survive Antarctica. Along with learning critical thinking and survival skills, the author presentation gave audience members the opportunity to listen to an author speak about writing adventure books.
