Family Reading Program
Through anecdotal responses/surveys of the large volume of summer library patrons, we will learn that individuals who participated in the FamilyRead program will: Learn something about the advantages of family discussion of books and topics, Want to return to the library for another book to read with their family, Learn the library is a place for each member of their family to find something to read.
As far as our research has shown, there are no other libraries or systems doing something like this. Because this is the first year for this program, we want to spread the word about this program WIDELY. We would like to purchase car window clings for libraries to hand out to families. The car window clings will be 11.5 inches x 3 inches (typical size for a bumper sticker) and say “Follow our Family to the Library!” A family that takes a window cling will also be given a couple of bookmarks with information about ACHF and TdS and will be encouraged to share the extra bookmarks with other friends who may not know about the services our area libraries provide. Because this program is still in progress, we do not have measurable (actual) outcomes at this point.
