Under Minnesota Skies - Colleen Hondl Gengler
Author, Colleen Gengler, will share stories from her book, "Under Minnesota Skies." The book is a "lively telling of stories from several generations and a memoir of three daughters growing up on a farm near Owatonna, MN in the 1940's, 50's and 60's." The presentation will include stories of WWII experiences from Colleen's parents' generation and her great-grandparents immigrant experiences. The program utilizes a slide presentation of pictures from the book and other historical photos.

1) People will have the opportunity to listen to a local author and it may inspire them to record their own experiences or family history.
2) Attendees will learn more about local history, farming practices, and the experiences of farm families during the 40's, 50's, and 60's.
3) The program should reinforce and strengthen local history and heritage. Participant evaluations and anecdotal responses will be collected.
Several attendees reported that the program gave them a better understanding of how to publish their own family histories. Specifically, they felt better informed about what publishing options are available and how to research ideas. Other attendees reported they felt a deeper appreciation for the importance of recording family history and stories from the past.
