Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Participants will be presented an introduction to leather working, that will focus on tools needed for leatherworking, where to purchase leather, and care of finished product. Participants will learned how to transfer a variety of designs onto their pieces of leather, finished the pieces and turn them into a wearable piece of art. Participants will learn a new skill they can easily do at home. Participants will see the library as a fun place to learn new skills--for all ages. Participant evaluations and anecdotal responses will be collected.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Jen began by going over leather working basics--types of leather, where to obtain leather, tools needed for leather working and how to care for finished pieces. Participants learned how to transfers designs on to a variety of different types of leather--or if they choose too, to come up with their own designs. Jen demonstrated the various tools used in leather working. She also discussed where to purchase the tools and how to take care of them. Participants commented on how wonderful Jen is as an instructor. Jen patiently worked one on one with many of the participants, explaining how to achieve the look they desired in the leather work piece they were creating. Each participant took home a bracelet they made in class, and a few had time to make a pair of earrings. Participants were very happy with the class, and what they learned.
