Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Attendees will learn about the art of granite etching. We will have granite pieces and tools available so participants can try granite etching for themselves, possibly sparking an interest in art in general or a new artistic medium. Participation evaluations and anecdotal responses will be collected.

Measurable Outcome(s)

We had a diverse group of patrons for granite etching with participants from 4 to 75 years old, including several multi-generational groups and a Girl Scout troop. Her program was a lead in to our third annual Full STEAM Ahead event the following Saturday.
Commentary from the evaluation forms included:
-I learned to etch on granite.
-Granite etching could bring about many creative possibilities.
-Artistic skills can be used in so many ways.
-Taught my Girl Scouts a new skill.
-I learned how to etch and make new friends.
-I think it was very fun and educational.
-I have always wondered how pictures and print are applied to granite. My ancestors worked with granite at Cold Spring, MN.
-It was excellent. I love hands on learning, especially in the arts.
-I learned to granite etch and that diamond is the only thing that can go through granite.
