Creating with Alcohol Inks - Melanie Gabbert-Gatchell
Professional Artist, Melanie Gabbert-Gatchell will guide participants (age 9 and up) as they create flowers, or abstracts with alcohol inks on tile using canned air. In this class participants, using paint brushes, and canned air will learn how to blend, dab, mix and flow with the mixative, along with other techniques and tricks to create different effects with the ink on tile. Each participant will create 2 unique pieces of art.

1. Participants will learn how to successfully work with alcohol inks--which inks work best, how to choose background materials, and different creative techniques that can be used to successfully create a piece of unique art.
2. Participants will come together, and as they are working on their project, will exchange ideals and learn how to become more creative with their tiles--making this a unique community experience.
3. Participants will view the library as a place to learn new, and even unique types of art--expanding their creativity, and seeing the library as an valuable part of our community. Anecdotal responses will be collected.
1. Participants learned what alcohol inks are, materials that can be successfully used with the inks, various types of brushes, straws and how common household items can be used to successfully create art on tiles, wood, metal and other materials.
2. Participants enjoyed the classes. They spent time sharing designs, discussing various methods they were using, and enjoying looking all the different tiles--making it a collaborative experience.
3. Residents of Ivanhoe are seeing the library as a place that offers a variety of learning activities and events--making the library a very valued member of the community.
