Project Overview

This is a collaboration between the three Cottonwood County libraries, Mountain Lake, Westbrook and Windom, with the event held at the Cottonwood County fairgrounds. Surfin' the 60's and Rockin' the 70's! Bob and the band entertain families, kids, seniors and beach guys and gals of all ages, with the addition of new songs and unique contests. This all-ages family fun show features the super surfing hits of the sixties, some of the classic rock & roll of the 50's, along with popular favorites from the 70's and the 80's, as well. But it's not just the music - it's so much more. Bob & the Beachcombers bring the beach balls, the Hula Hoops, and a summertime beach-party fun attitude that will guarantee that your special event will be a success. Great music, dancing, audience participation, sing-alongs and hula-hoop contest.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

This program is a benefit for all ages who love music and rock and roll. It is an interactive program that kids of all ages can participate in the hula hoop contests, and the other contests that are offered. This is a great opportunity for the libraries of Cottonwood County to come together and produce a "Day at the Fair" It is a great recognition and awareness of what the libraries in a community can offer through Minnesota Arts and Cultural Funds. This all-ages family fun show features the super surfing hits of the sixties, some of the classic rock & roll of the 50's, along with popular favorites from the 70's and the 80's. Bringing a community together with music, and the culture of the rock 'n roll era is inspiring and beneficial. Exposing attendees to music of different decades is rewarding and keeps the music alive. Anecdotal responses will be collected.

Measurable Outcome(s)

"Great Show! We sure had a good time! I hope you do this again!", "Just love their music!" The crowd was very pleased with this groups performance. Entertaining and interactive are both great points for this event. Bob and the Beachcombers never disappoint. We handed out Leis as people entered the arena.
