Project Overview

In this play, actors define resiliency and empathy, and demonstrate how to be kind to others. The play encourages children to read and use their imagination. Molly the Mouse dreams to be a Superhero. Molly vowed to take the Wonder Mouse oath: Stay Sharp Like Cheddar! Stay True Like Blue! Be Kind to Each Other, That's What We Do! One day, Molly stumbles upon Lando the Lion and wakes him from a deep sleep. Lando is very upset, but Molly convinces Lando to let her go. When Lando gets trapped, will Molly be able to save Lando? Or has she bitten off more than she can chew? In this play, children learn the importance of kindness, fairness, and that big things come in small packages.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

The Lion & the Mouse is a play that also packs messages of empathy and resilience. Families will have the opportunity to see and interact with live theater and professional actors. It is hoped that those who attend will gain interest in theater while learning important social lessons. Anecdotal responses will be collected.

Measurable Outcome(s)

This program was great for all ages. The children enjoyed seeing a live performance, and got to see how the performers went in and out of character. They also learned new vocabulary - empathy and resiliency. From the evaluation forms (we did not get many due to the young age of the audience): ?Learned - Empathy, being kind, friendship?, ?Learned - Empathy?, ?Learned - that this type of program was offered ?
