Project Overview

Ralph engages his young fans with activity songs, story songs, dancing songs, and a healthy dose of pure silliness. Covert has four illustrated books for children: the non-fiction "Sawdust And Spangles" illustrated by Giselle Potter; "Ralph's World Rocks!," a collection of lyrics brought to life by Charise Harper; "A Nutty Nutcracker Christmas," with drawings by Wilson Swain (based on the play); and "Me And My Animal Friends" with art by Laurie Keller who also created the booklet for "All Around Ralph's World." The important link between music and reading will be emphasized at these concerts.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Children and adults will be motivated by Ralph Covert's high energy and dynamic performance. Having the opportunity to experience a performance by this highly acclaimed artist will be memorable and provide an opportunity not always available in this area to children and adults. Ralph Covert will share his love of children's music and literature and engage his audiences. Anecdotal responses will be collected.

Measurable Outcome(s)

The musician entertained the audience members with songs and stories, encouraging participation from everyone. Covert?s enthusiasm was contagious and high energy program kept attendees of all ages interested. His original songs, including the alphabet song, reflect his love of children?s literature, were fun and educational. Covert spoke about his daughter?s dyslexia and how writing the alphabet song helped her to learn the letters. Children, parents and other adults sang along and moved to the music. Learned: new songs, social skills, fun new words.
