The Slayton and Fulda libraries partnered to bring a program to their county patrons. Anita Gaul presented a program about her book "The Women of Southwest Minnesota and the Great War". She shared stories and facts about women in our area and how they contributed to the war effort in their own special ways.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Those who attend will learn more about the contributions of women in Southwest Minnesota during World War I. A special emphasis on Murray County will be included in the presentation. Participant evaluations and anecdotal responses will be collected.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Those who attended the program have a greater understanding of the atmosphere in society during that time and the sacrifices citizens made for the war effort. They also learned stories about local residents and their contribution to the war effort and how women became leaders in several ways. World War I and the years immediately after saw great changes for women in the United States.
