Project Overview

Elementary art instructor Deb Knott will provide instruction and opportunity for 30 children, Kindergarten through Fifth grade, to paint using acrylic paints on canvas. Students will learn different techniques of using acrylic paint (flicking, dabbling, stippling, layering). Students will learn how to prepare a canvas for acrylic painting. Students will follow sequential steps to create an acrylic painting using primary colors.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Participants will learn techniques for acrylic painting and will learn the different types of brushes and tools used for acrylic painting. Additionally they will learn how to mix colors. Anecdotal responses will be collected.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Those attending this program were given instruction on basic techniques of acrylic painting and were encouraged to complete a work of art of their own. Many had never been exposed to this form of art and enjoyed learning from the instructor.
