Project Overview

"Music of the Mississippi" is a Blues program featuring zydeco, TexMex, country, soul and hillbilly music associated with the Mississippi River. Stories about the songs will be featured with audience participation consisting of playing egg shakers, washboards and more. Following the performance free harmonica lessons will be given with harmonicas donated by the Minnesota Blues Society.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Audience will enjoy and learn about several Mississippi Blues music styles. Audience will take a basic lesson in how to play the harmonica. Audience will get to take home their own harmonica. Anecdotal responses will be collected.

Measurable Outcome(s)

51 audience members took the harmonica lessons and learned to play a new song. All audience queried said they greatly enjoyed the fun and uplifting program.
