Participant evaluations and anecdotal responses will be collected.
Attendees learned about different styles of music along the Mississippi River, including the history behind some of the instruments. Attendees also participated in the performance by playing egg shakers and dancing.
Following the performance, students were given a harmonica to keep, as well as harmonica lessons and a diagram to take home. This program attracted ages from three years old to 80+ years old. Interest in the music spanned generations, as did the interest in the harmonica lessons. We had a great deal of positive feedback from the surveys: "Library staff doing a good job. Thanks to them, and Minnesota Arts, History, and Culture. "Loved it so much! "Really great - a fun idea to teach kids about a unique musical instrument. "Thank you for having such fun events!
