Vetted Programs--Katie Knutson
To enhance the future storytelling performance experience for participants through education. To increase access to storytelling, enhancing audience comfort and confidence with unfamiliar folk tales. To encourage further education and attendance at cultural events. To reinforce the idea that libraries are places to experience cultural or arts programming.
Kids were engaged during the whole performance and were eager to participate in the stories. After seeing Katie perform on stage, several children now want to learn how to tell stories. One parents came back to the library to tell about her child, who is usually very quiet, has been telling stories to her parents and sibling for over a week after the event. Another kindergartener told his whole class the "whole" story from the storyteller at sharing time.
