Project Overview
The Freeborn County Historical Society and ACT (Albert Lea Community Theatre) partnered to preserve and celebrate the 50th anniversary of ACT in our community. ACT has provided play bills/programs, photos and scrapbooks to be scanned and we have had photo collages made to be used in exhibits and put together a power point as well. As a result of this partnership, individuals have also come forward with personal collections of photos and play programs to be scanned and added to the collection. We held an open house at the museum and invited the public to see an exhibit of photos, collages and props to celebrate this partnership. We were all overwhelmed at the amount of materials collected and are pleased to know the collection is preserved for future generations.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

By forming this partnership we will preserve the history of ACT in our community for future generations and celebrate their success over a 50 year span. We will offer an open house to the public to view the photo collages and exhibits that we will create through the process of this grant project and form bonds with this organizations that have not existed before. We will be able to demonstrate to our community that through collaborating together Great Things Can Happen! We will survey guest that attend the open house and request suggestions of other collaboration that might be possible to strengthen the preservation of our cultural heritage.

Measurable Outcome(s)

We had 25 individuals attend the program, from many different walks of life. They all enjoyed the program and are glad to see that an effort has been taken to preserve our cultural history for future generations. A few of the younger attendees were not aware that ACT has been in the community for 50 years, but all attendees enjoyed the PowerPoint presentation and looking at the photo collages and play props in our display. We had no negative comments.
