Project Overview
Jack Pearson has been blending songs and stories professionally for over thirty years. He plays guitar, banjo, and host of little instruments with one foot in American folk tradition and the other lost in the world of reading and imagination. Jack loves working with libraries and can bring a fun family experience of music and stories that focuses on books and the love of reading.
I Love to Read! - As an author of six children's books, Jack brings his life-long love of words to bear on one of his very favorite topics: reading! It's one of the most important things we ever learn. The sheer joy of settling down with a good book shines through this very special assembly of tunes and tales.
On the Trail of America! - This stirring presentation celebrates the history and spirit of our nation. The instruments, stories, and student participation in the great songs of America all blend in both a backward and forward look at what this country really is: the land of the free; the home of the brave. Whoever thinks history is boring hasn't been off adventuring with Jack "On the Trail of America!"

Provide an interactive musical experience that bridges music and stories to children of all ages. Enhance musical enjoyment through age-appropriate song and dance. Increase access to educational and family-friendly music. Encourage children to include more music in their daily lives. Reinforce the idea that libraries are places to experience cultural or arts programming.
Measurable Outcome(s)
Local musicians have attended his concerts and found them inspiring. School kids wanted to learn more about: all those instruments (guitar and violin), sandpaper shoes, "limberjack," jaw harp, playing the spoons, how to tap dance, wood working, and how to become a musician. The jaw harp is the one most spoken for.
