Project Overview
Robert and Lynn Halbrook weave entertaining routines (utilizing drama, magic, comedy, and audience participation) with educational messages (benefits of reading, appropriate eating habits, regular exercising habits, bullying, etc.). When your school or library hosts one of Robert and Lynn's Lyceum programs, you get more than just a lecturer and much more than just a magic show. You get an outstanding speaker talking with the children about important educational topics.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Emphasize the importance of magic entertainment in the local community. Enhance the future magic performance experience for participants through education. Increase access to educational magic, enhancing audience comfort and confidence with unfamiliar entertainment and learning styles. Encourage children to learn a new performance art. Encourage further education and attendance at future fine arts events. Reinforce the idea that libraries are places to experience cultural or arts programming.

Measurable Outcome(s)

The children loved that they "made" candy appear out of the air. They loved that there was a live bird and that they got to pet it. The children who were chosen as "assistants" loved that they got to participate and many now want to learn to do magic. After the school performances about bullying, kids wanted more information about how to stop it in their school and were looking for books about it.
