Vetted Programs--Minnesota Historical Society Programs
Increase interest in Minnesota history. Encourage further education and attendance at future performing arts events. Reinforce the idea that libraries are places to experience cultural or arts programming.
Many audience members were impressed with the amount of history each presenter knew on their subject. The History Players were able to smoothly answer questions and the crafters had a great amount of patience with each person at the workshops. Being able to handle the props increased the interest with younger attendees and inspired them to learn more about Minnesota history. They also enjoyed being able to connect these individuals to the big events they are learning about in the classroom. Teachers found these programs a useful tool in learning about our Minnesota history and culture. With several Civil War programs, students became much more interested in the Civil War, the battles, Minnesotans in it, other people's stories, the South's perspective, camp life, boat life.
