Vetted Programs--Star Michaelina
Emphasize the importance of magic entertainment in the local community. Enhance the future magic performance experience for participants through education. Increase access to educational magic, enhancing audience comfort and confidence with unfamiliar entertainment and learning styles. Encourage further education and attendance at future fine arts events. Reinforce the idea that libraries are places to experience cultural or arts programming.
Several adults said they really enjoyed the show and were glad the library could offer a program like this for them and the children. One person responded since they don't have a school in their town, it is great the library can offer such great programs. Another response was it was fun seeing the kids using their imagination trying to figure out the magic. They liked the way Star incorporated books and the library in her program. Having Star introduce the summer reading program added an exciting element. One librarian reported kids were talking about the performance for a week or two after. Many children asked to learn magic and some checked books out on the subject. Some parents indicated their kids ask to go to the library more even without programs in the summer time.
