Project Overview
The Rochester Public Library (RPL) contracted with local artist Peter Lex, to paint The Art of Music mural on a circular architectural feature in the library's music area. The mural was celebrated with an unveiling event which featured the music of the Southeastern Minnesota Youth Orchestra (SEMYO) and the Choral Arts Ensemble. City Council president introduced the project, expressing the value of art in the community and the artist shared his perspective on the creative process. The Art of Music project ties directly to the library's strategic plan which has the goal "Engage the Community" with the initiative "Communities members have expanded opportunities for creative expression and innovation." In addition, the Art of Music mural will provide a lasting visual impact for patrons to enjoy for years to come.
