What Created a Culture of Violence & Crime and How Do We Correct it?
In just five weeks, three Minneapolis Public School students were killed in what the school Superintendent called a relentless spate of violence this summer. St. Paul is on track this year to have the highest number of homicides in more than a decade. Some say violence has become a part of our culture. KMOJ takes a look at what's behind this culture of crime. What role has historical trauma played? And, what cultural changes need to take place to put us on a safer path. Since much of this crime is perpetrated by people in their late teens and early 20's, KMOJ will look to those in their late teens and early 20s for the answers.
$1,775,000 the first year and $1,700,00 the second year are to the Association of Minnesota Public Educational Radio Stations for production and acquisition grants in accordance with Minnesota Statutes section 129D.19.Of this amount, $75,000 the first year is for the Veterans' Voices program to educate and engage communities regarding veterans' contributions, knowledge, skills and experiences with an emphasis on Korean War veterans.
More Minnesotans of all ages, ethnicities and incomes will have access to Minnesota History and culture. This project will help increase awareness and knowledge of history and how it affected people's lives so that it can help Minnesotans make informed decisions in the future.
