Powering Down
A series focusing on people in the Cook area who have chosen to live off the public utilities grid. Interviews will be presented in a day in the life style format, detailing what daily actions must be taken in lieu of having power, water, or internet. Each interviewee would give their reasons for wanting to be off-grid, whether financial, environmental, or just personal preference. Would cover both wintertime and summertime off-grid living. Getting back to simple ways is a virtue for many people within the culture of the North Shore community and something to aspire to for people who visit. The pertinent environmental and economic issues of our time make it important to find other ways of living. Modern lifestyle choices will be compared to historical ways of life in Cook
$1,775,000 the first year and $1,700,00 the second year are to the Association of Minnesota Public Educational Radio Stations for production and acquisition grants in accordance with Minnesota Statutes section 129D.19.Of this amount, $75,000 the first year is for the Veterans' Voices program to educate and engage communities regarding veterans' contributions, knowledge, skills and experiences with an emphasis on Korean War veterans.
More Minnesotans will be exposed to important cultural and environmental issues relevant to WTIP's listening area. There will be an increase in locally-focused and Minnesota focused content produced by public radio that is focused on cultural and environmental issues relevant to the North Shore.
