Project Overview

Community Viewpoint combines the immediacy of on-demand digital audio with the reach and legacy of traditional broadcast radio, all in the service of amplifying many more voices, ideas, and perspectives from within and across our community, especially those absent from the current media landscape.
This project seeks to expand the station's ability to reach deep into the community, to raise voices from across neighborhoods and generations, and to bring forth stories, experiences, and perspectives, that have previously been marginalized. Community Viewpoint will utilize the newer tools and technology of the digital landscape, in conjunction with traditional broadcast.
This project will help KMOJ build partnerships necessary to deliver content and information regularly and consistently across its broadcast and digital platforms, including radio, HD radio, podcast, and online. KMOJ and Ampers will partner with several education-based groups (including ThreeSixty Journalism and North News) to produce these segments and to help train and provide opportunities for more people of color, to gain valuable media and broadcasting experience.
The project will consist of short segments (to air on the radio station daily or weekly) combined longer programs that take a deeper dive into complex issues and ideas (to air on the radio station and for podcast distribution).
