The Ojibwemowin, Learning the Ojibwe Language
This is a critical endeavor as more and more Ojibwe language speakers pass away - it threatens the future of the Ojibwe language. The instructor for this program focuses on repetition and memorizing as a key to acquiring this language, along with core meanings and stories associated with the words to create a wider understanding and knowledge of the language.
$1,775,000 the first year and $1,700,00 the second year are to the Association of Minnesota Public Educational Radio Stations for production and acquisition grants in accordance with Minnesota Statutes section 129D.19.Of this amount, $75,000 the first year is for the Veterans' Voices program to educate and engage communities regarding veterans' contributions, knowledge, skills and experiences with an emphasis on Korean War veterans.
Increased interest in Native American culture through weekly programs targeting underserved audience in our listening area. A result of listening to this program will increase interest in the culture of Indians in Minnesota. Survey of listeners will allow KOJB to determine the success of the educational aspects of the program.
