The Unexplained-KBFT
Jiibay, (the word for ghost or spirit in Ojibwe) play a very important role in Native culture and history. Jiibay appear in many forms ranging from ghosts and Big Foot, to UFOs. There is a lot of rich and sometimes unexplained culture in the Bois Forte community. KBFT is capturing the stories and history behind the unexplained that have been witnessed and reported on the Rez.
$1,775,000 the first year and $1,700,00 the second year are to the Association of Minnesota Public Educational Radio Stations for production and acquisition grants in accordance with Minnesota Statutes section 129D.19.Of this amount, $75,000 the first year is for the Veterans' Voices program to educate and engage communities regarding veterans' contributions, knowledge, skills and experiences with an emphasis on Korean War veterans.
More Minnesotans of all ages, ethnicities, abilities, and income will have more access to cultural and historical programming. Minnesotans will have easier access to locally focused content and Minnesota focused content produced by public radio. The series will attempt to separate fact from fiction when it comes to this aspect of cultural and historical events on the Bois Forte Reservation and the surrounding area.
