Project Overview

Veterans' Voices: Korea: Ampers will produce a total of thirty (30) 2-minute segments featuring Minnesota's Korean Veterans. In addition, the funds will be used to produce a total of six (6) podcasts to be used in Minnesota classrooms and for Minnesotans to listen to on-demand. The longer segments will range in length from approximately ten-to-twenty-minutes. In addition, the two-minute segments will be compiled onto a CD and given away at the Minnesota State Fair in 2020.

Appropriation Language

$1,775,000 the first year and $1,700,00 the second year are to the Association of Minnesota Public Educational Radio Stations for production and acquisition grants in accordance with Minnesota Statutes section 129D.19.Of this amount, $75,000 the first year is for the Veterans' Voices program to educate and engage communities regarding veterans' contributions, knowledge, skills and experiences with an emphasis on Korean War veterans.

More Minnesotans of all ages, ethnicities and incomes will have access to Minnesota history. The project will produce content that history teachers can use in Minnesota classrooms. The project will produce content that the Minnesota Historical Society and Minnesota's libraries can use. The project will help increase awareness and knowledge of history and how it affected people's lives so that it can help Minnesotans to make informed decisions in the future.
