For this project KBFT will host a Native American cooking event for members of the Bois Forte community as well as the surrounding communities. This free event will help expose more people to the Native American culture and will make connections through food. A known and well-respected Chef will prepare the food.

Appropriation Language

$1,775,000 the first year and $1,700,00 the second year are to the Association of Minnesota Public Educational Radio Stations for production and acquisition grants in accordance with Minnesota Statutes section 129D.19.Of this amount, $75,000 the first year is for the Veterans' Voices program to educate and engage communities regarding veterans' contributions, knowledge, skills and experiences with an emphasis on Korean War veterans.

More Minnesotans of all ages, ethnicities, abilities, and income will have better access to cultural and historical programming. This project will increase the focus on Minnesota culture, specifically Native American culture. Minnesotans will have easier access to locally focused content and Minnesota focused content produced by public radio. Students will have more exposure to Native American culture because the chefs will conduct classroom presentation at area schools.
