MinneStories: 150 Years of Minnesota Stories and Storytelling - People have told stories around the campfire or fireplace since the start of our state, told over the past 150 years by the Ojibwe, English, German, Finnish, Norwegian, Hispanic and Hmong people who have made the "Land of 10,000 Lakes" their home. How Rabbit Lost His Tail: Animal How and Why Stories - Learn how bear got a short tail and why deer have antlers in this interactive story and nature program.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Emphasize the importance of folklore in your local community.
Enhance the future storytelling performance experience for participants through education.
Increase access to storytelling, enhancing audience comfort and confidence with unfamiliar folk tales.
Encourage further education and attendance at cultural events.
Reinforce the idea that libraries are places to experience cultural or arts programming.

Measurable Outcome(s)

The kids' favorite story was "How the Bear Lost His Tail." They all liked the stories being more than just the facts about the history of Minnesota. But they also questioned the truths of the stories, especially the one about Jesse James. (They had only heard of the Jesse James that is a biker on TV). The students asked when they would be able to learn more about the history of Minnesota.
