Project Overview
Ross Sutter has a degree in Music Education and nearly thirty years experience working in schools all over the Midwest and in Europe. Ross loves to sing American and northern European songs for children. He plays an array of folk instruments—guitar, bodhran, button accordion, limberjack, and dulcimer. He has performed on radio, television and at festivals, and works regularly in schools teaching the songs and folk dances that he has collected over the years. His rapport with children is extraordinary, but he also possesses the unique ability to thoroughly entertain the parents and adults in the audience as well. Ross explores and entertains with songs that tells a story or can be found in books in the library.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Provide an interactive musical experience to children of all ages. Enhance musical enjoyment through age-appropriate song and dance. Increase access to educational and family-friendly music. Encourage children to include more music in their daily lives. Reinforce the idea that libraries are places to experience cultural or arts programming.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Surveys collected indicated a near unanimous 5 out of 5 given for every question on the survey; overall quality, enhancing the arts community, a fun entertaining experience, and likelihood to think of the library as a provider of arts programming - Averages were above 4.9 for all questions. Comments gathered from the adults included, “The audience was completely involved and it was fun for all,” “Interactive, educational and completely unplugged!” and “My son was dancing, clapping and grinning the entire show!” Suggestion for improvement from the adults were “do nothing different,” “longer,” “offer it more frequently,” and "serve lutefisk after the program.”
