Community Collaboration – Preserving Freeborn County Photos
Audience will provide ideas for future projects
Audience will see the importance of the library and archival collections
Increase audience interest in seeing future presentations
2,448 photographs were scanned, logged, and identified. Many good comments and some of the suggested ideas will be incorporated into future presentations. Numerous people were amazed at the wide variety of photos that are in the collection and at the quality of the photos in the presentation. Those attending said they would attend future presentation and suggested specific subject areas such as churches, schools, hotels, businesses, etc. Several suggested pairing a current photo before or after the photo being preserved to show a then-and-now concept to help younger individuals relate to the old photo. It was also suggested to include in the caption the complete address if possible so they could relate to the location better.
