Project Overview

A 5-8 minute bi-weekly program on modern life, Ojibwe values, daily work and holistic health from renowned Native American elder, Dr Arne Vainio. Dr. Arne Vainio is an enrolled member of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe and a family practice doctor on the Fond Du Lac reservation in Cloquet. His writings are true life experiences about modern life, real people and holistic living in Northern Minnesota, that bring wisdom and traditional Ojibwe perspectives to our everyday lives.

Appropriation Language

$1,775,000 the first year and $1,700,00 the second year are to the Association of Minnesota Public Educational Radio Stations for production and acquisition grants in accordance with Minnesota Statutes section 129D.19.Of this amount, $75,000 the first year is for the Veterans' Voices program to educate and engage communities regarding veterans' contributions, knowledge, skills and experiences with an emphasis on Korean War veterans.

This project will result in an increase in locally and Minnesota-focused content produced by public radio. Minnesotans will have a better understanding of the culture and history of the state's Native American communities.
