History of Leech Lake
Host Elaine Fleming of the Leech Lake Nation, also known by her spirit name, One Thunderbird Woman with the Loon Clan, shares stories and memories of Leech Lake history. Through recollections of times and people, the show's host explores memories and stories that are not found in any text books. This program provides a rich historical perspective to American Indian life and how it relates today.
$1,775,000 the first year and $1,700,00 the second year are to the Association of Minnesota Public Educational Radio Stations for production and acquisition grants in accordance with Minnesota Statutes section 129D.19.Of this amount, $75,000 the first year is for the Veterans' Voices program to educate and engage communities regarding veterans' contributions, knowledge, skills and experiences with an emphasis on Korean War veterans.
Increased interest in Native American culture through weekly programs targeting underserved audience in our listening area. A result of listening to this program will increase interest in the culture of Indians in Minnesota. Survey of listeners will allow KOJB to determine the success of the educational aspects of the program.
