Talk of the Streets - Spring and Summer 2016
Patrons will learn about and discuss the works and experiences of urban lit authors. Patrons will discover urban lit authors unfamiliar to them. Patrons will have the opportunity to interact with urban lit authors. Patrons will have the opportunity to try writing at writing workshops. Patrons will receive encouragement to continue their personal writing and publishing. patrons will learn about the history and significance of urban lit.
For writing workshops: 100% tried writing. 100% felt encouraged to continue writing. 100% learned about a book or author new to them. 75% connected with books, stories, and libraries. 100% rated the quality of the program as good or better. Selected comments: “Loved it! I really enjoyed the class feel motivated & inspired to do more writing!” “Enjoyed the class. Terrific subject for series.”
For the author events: 96% learned about the works and experiences of an Urban Fiction author. 84% learned about a book or author new to me. 88% connected with books, stories, and libraries. 96% rated the quality of the program as good or better. Selected comments: “Joy Deja King is great motivator for aspiring novelists.” “Really enjoyed it! Author is down to earth, authentic & humble. She gave meaningful advice to today’s audience.”
