Off Site Summer Reading
Participants will spend more time reading over the summer than they would have without the program. Participants will interact with a librarian and/or performer at their site.
Offsite Summer Reading Program (OSSRP) reached nearly 2300 children with reading programs and incentives at 18 sites during the summer of 2016. 57 librarian and/or performer visits featuring targeted reading and library messages reached over 2400 students and adults throughout the summer. 9 evaluations from 4 sites were completed and returned, with 7 out of 9 reporting that children in their program read more because of OSSRP.
One evaluation included this comment: “Each year, the staff from the Scott County Library program are fantastic, flexible and accommodating. We appreciate having these books delivered right to us. The kids in the program enjoy having great options to read and engage and share their stories with their peers.”
