LGBTQIA Pride - Summer 2016
For Telling Queer History: Patrons will experience a high quality program, learn something
new about the history of the LGBTQA community in the Twin Cities, have the opportunity to share their own stories, and meet other members of the community. For Queer Voices:
Patrons will experience a high-quality program, enjoy poetry and literature readings, and
check out related library materials. For Pride author talks: Patrons will learn about the writer(s). Patrons will learn about the writing process. Patrons will or will plan to check out library materials about the writer(s) or writing. Patrons will have the opportunity to interact with the writers. Patrons will meet someone new at the programs. For Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon:
For Pride Storytimes: Patrons will hear stories about a
diversity of families and/or identities, LGBTQA patrons will feel welcome at the libraries,
patrons will express a desire to recommend attendance at a Pride storytime to someone else. For Pride Festival Twin Cities: the community will learn about library resources and events, be made to feel welcome at libraries, and sign up for library cards.
For Telling Queer History: 98% learned something new about the history of the GLBTQ community in the Twin Cities. 50% had the opportunity to share their own story. 98% met someone new at the event. 100% rated the quality of the program as good or better. Selected comments: “Speakers were great. I felt comfortable/safe in this space.” “Very powerful, so glad I came. Thanks for the totally welcoming and inclusive environment.”
For Queer Voices Reading:
100% enjoyed the poetry and literature they heard at the event. 100% felt welcome at the library when they saw Queer Voices being offered. 36% were inspired to checkout related library materials. 36% met someone new at the event. 100% rated the quality of the program as good or better. Selected comments: “Keep providing outlet for wide variety of voices in our community.” “Thank you for caring to provide Queer offerings as freely as you do.”
For Pride Storytimes: 100% felt the stories reflected a diversity of families and/or identities. 100% felt welcome at the library when they saw Pride Storytime being offered. 100% would recommend a Pride Storytime to someone else. Selected comments:
“This is a great space to share culture and caring for each other.” “We love storytime.”
For Pride Wikipedia Edit-a-thon:
80% learned something new about Wikipedia. 100% helped make Wikipedia more inclusive and accurate about LGBTQIA topics.
100% met someone new at this program. 100% rated the quality of this program good or better. Selected comments:
“Great chance to learn about LGBTQ history and to helpfully help inform others! Thank you!” “Great program, learned a lot about Wikipedia. Very happy I attended. Know I will use Wikipedia a lot more now as the event opened my eyes...”
For Author Talks: 100% learned something about the writers. 45% learned about the writing process. 62% will check out related library materials. 92% had the opportunity to interact with the writers. 17% met someone new at this program. 100% rated the quality of this program good or better. Selected comments: “This program was informative & fascinating & also timely.” “Very informative. Excellent!!”
For Pride Festival and Parade: Pride Fest goers learned about library resources and events, were made to feel welcome at libraries, and several signed up for library cards.
