Project Overview
Wendell Affield, author of Muddy Jungle Rivers, will speak about his time as a member of the Mobile Riverine Force, a special unit comprised of Army and Navy personnel. His memoir gives a close-up look at life on a riverboat during 1968, the bloodiest year of the Vietnam War. Veterans, active military servicemen and women, their families and any interested members of the community are invited.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

We expect this author presentation will inform community members about the Vietnam War from “a twenty year-old brown water sailor’s point of view”. From the author’s description, “this memoir takes the reader into the frustration, rage, terror, death, betrayal, and search for redemption”.
