Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Youth will learn art techniques and create a project with a teaching artist.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Making 3D masks of Star Wars characters. Kids used creativity and spatial skills to create a three-part mask of a Star Wars characters.
Leah taught the group to make a small book with a pamphlet binding and a bound paper cover. The attendees (all girls) really enjoyed the project and all had a fantastic looking finished product within the hour.
Participants drew and colored their own comics. Megan kept the tweens/teens busy and happy the entire two hours.
Teacher gave a brief introduction to printmaking, had kids draw a design and then gave them Styrofoam sheets to mark into, paint rollers and paper to roll out their designs. Very relaxed, let the kids be creative and do as many prints as they wanted. The project was enjoyed by all and the final product was great.
Artistry brought wood blocks, nails, hammers and string as well as markers and stickers to decorate. Jane, Kiki and Payton were awesome! Very patient and calm explaining everything. Everyone seemed very happy with what they were taking home.
Tie-Dyeing with Sharpies: tie dyeing t-shirts using sharpies and rubbing alcohol Stinky program but AWESOME. Middle grade boys loved it!
Things that Float, Whirl and Fly: Pinwheels using paint sticks, paper, and brass tacks.
Created catapults out of popsicle sticks and rubber bands. The kids were walked through (generally) how to mimic the catapult example that the presenter had brought but the kids enjoyed it for the most part.
Studio Ghibli-inspired Art: Kayla had three projects for the kids to work on. The kids kept busy and talked about their favorite Studio Ghibli movies and characters. Clay keychains and prints inspired by the Spirited Away Characters.
String art: nails in wood and string yarn around to make picture Jane did an excellent job explaining about drawing your picture and marking where the nails go, afterwards they were able to add embellishments and ended up with some very nice looking art
Making Pokemon Comics: Kids learned how to draw Pikachu and then created their own giant Pokemon card. Excellent program for 7-12 year olds.
Animation Flip Books Tweens/teens made Mixie books, Flip-o-ramas and full flip books. Everyone had fun and learned how to create cool projects.
Creative Catapults: Learned about force, physics, predicting how catapults would shoot marshmallows. Used popsicle sticks and rubber bands to make 2 different catapults Free time at the end allowed for creative design of additional catapults. Great class taught by the director of Artistry!
Cosplay Masks: Used a variety of art supplies to create masks based on participants favorite superheroes, videogame, literary characters. Good concept, a few very cool masks were made!
Toys & Inventions: Made cars and parachutes. Parachutes were a hit, held a contest using a fan for 'longest floating parachute"
