Project Overview

Scott County Library sponsored a series of programs that provided a variety of artistic, creative and cultural experiences in branch libraries for the local community.

Project Details

Over 313 library visitors viewed needlework and historical spinning and crazy quilt demonstrations by local experts during Needle and Thread activities, including 7 immigrants at an Asian weaving demonstration in Savage; collaboration with quilting groups was strenghtened, as several participated informally in demonstrations as well.

731 preschool and school-age children and adults experienced professional storytelling, including 22 immigrant family members at "Children's Stories From India" and "Yoga Storytime".
269 school-age and teen participants created quality visual art pieces during Minnetonka Center for the Arts programs; relationship with thew Shakopee schools was strenghtened by offering class as a reward to art show winners.

Cooperated with the Shakopee Branch Library to display elementary art show winners and sent winners to Cartoon workshop provided by Minnetonka Center for the Arts.
