Through the use of free writes and prompts, participants will begin putting their memories and own personal stories on paper. Will learn practical ways to create stories their families will enjoy for generations. Participants will use class worksheets to create a 3-ring binder of stories for their families. Class time will be used to create new work, learn the basics of writing family stories, and receive feedback on stories created.
Participants learned much from the instruction of award-winning author Angel Foster: how to begin putting their memories together into a story, various writing styles, great guidelines in writing memoirs, more confidence, and more. Participant comments include: "What this workshop did was provide motivation and renewed appreciation for the stories people carry with them." "I learned to 'paint the picture - make your readers see it." "I received many helpful suggestions in writing my life story, from the beginning of every new entry to pulling the reader into my time in the story."
