Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

This program looks at the recent historical impact of tuberculosis -- how people were treated, what kinds of lives they were able to lead, and what happened after they were able to leave treatment. Learning about history helps us to understand our past (and sometimes change our future actions.) This is a rare opportunity to hear from a researcher and author about an important historical event.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Attendees learned how TB was treated (and how the treatment has changed over time,) how patients were placed in sanatoriums, how long they stayed, what they did there etc. The girl from this book (Marilyn) is currently 91 -- she spent 3 years in the sanatorium and went on to live a full and productive life. All attendees loved hearing about the local impact...and stated "we want more events like this one!"
