Project Overview

The Lost Forty revives and performs the Irish-influenced songs of men who roamed the Great Lakes region in the days when Pine was king. Brian Miller and Randy Gosa mix a passion for Northwood's history and folklore with their love of arranging forgotten songs to bring to life this rich but under-explored music.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Attendees will learn about the pine industry in the Great Lakes region - and how the musicians use their passion for the regions history in arranging and performing the songs that showcase this era.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Attendees enjoyed the music and the old pictures that were shown to accompany it. There was much interest in the history of how the Irish migrated first to Canada and then to the U.S. The musicians were great storytellers - and hearing their personal approach to how they get ready to perform the forgotten music from this period in history was very interesting!
